Scheduling guide
New York and Los Angeles are 3 hours apart all year, and both cities observe daylight saving on the same US schedule, so the difference never changes. The workday overlap runs 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM Eastern, which is 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Pacific: a full 6 hours, one of the widest overlaps of any major US city pair.
That makes coast-to-coast scheduling easy, but the window still has a personality. The first hour belongs to the West Coast morning routine, and the last hour brushes the East Coast wind-down. The sweet spot is 1:00 to 3:00 PM Eastern (10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Pacific), when both sides are in deep-work mode.
For recurring meetings, anchor them mid-window: 2:00 PM Eastern / 11:00 AM Pacific survives calendar drift and never collides with lunch on either coast. If you manage a bicoastal team, rotate the occasional early or late slot so the burden of edge-of-day calls is shared, and keep Friday afternoons Eastern light: that is still Friday morning in LA, but energy is low everywhere.
